This was written a long time ago, while the main story progressed, and I'm... uncomfortable with it... I think it's potentially extraneous, and not all that well-written. I think I know why/ how it fits, but I can't help thinking it's a bit jammed into the flow of the whole, and I'm not sure what to do about that.

I've been meaning to do this for ages, but probably I was either lazy or scared or both.

Not knowing who even reads these, I'm going to assume someone does, or will at some point. In any case, I am announcing the decision, here and now, to throw open the chapters of INOT to comment and general feedback.

I was going to do complicated things with Wordpress, but then I thought: fuck it, let's just use Livejournal like I was going to back in the day.

So. Livejournal it is, which means that an RSS feed thingy can be set up for the story as it progresses online in its individual chapters, and people can be alerted to updates and I can stop thinking about maybe when I do that thing.

Hah.

Watch this space very closely.

And I've done a bunch more JJ. In fact, I've managed to link up a MAHOOSIVE great section of written-for-the-future stuff with the present stream, and I'll be posting the relevant "chapters" as I churn through the main body of the text, stripping out the weird titles that only make sense to me.

Short version: if any of y'all are still reading/ interested/ whatever - there's a bunch of new chapters coming your way. Loads of 'em. Starting with Chapter 24 (which I forgot to post about - rubbish!) and Chapter 25, the aforementioned link to a whole buncha other stuff.

So, I've been a bit out of commission lately. My "real life" alter ego had major surgery, which laid me out and... okay, this "talking as an alter ego" thing is starting to get a bit weird.

Hmm.

Anyway, my creative bent was definitely bent out of shape, after my risibly thinking "oooh, I'll have loads of weeks of work and lots of time to do all sorts of creative things."

Turns out it doesn't work like that. Mojo (creative or otherwise) is inextricably linked to libido (as in Jung's "life energy" scenario that Freud nicked for sexual purposes /rant) and libido, it turns out, is inextricably linked to your body's energy, and it turns out that a) chronic pain, b) healing take up a lot of energy. Dammit.

So, I've only just got back on the creative trail recently. And it's been kicky. I've been temporising by creating a spreadsheet which logs my creative output, but aside from that I've made some progress on the novel, resurrected a short story set in the 18th Century, and generally got back into the swing of things.

Nice.

So the latest chapter of "I Never Ordered This" - proper, grown-up title for "JJ" is up: Chapter 23. I finally got her into that bloody corridor. Hah!

Also: the new website server doesn't like curly quote marks or – (which I know, to you, is indistinguishable from -), so I've spent most of today changing them. All. For fuck's sake. That's about 60 files. 60 files I had to go and change again when I found out about the - thing. Thank gods for Notepad's Replace-All function, and MS Word's programmable macros. You know, just don't use Word to make your webpages... that way lies pain.

Also, the Poetry Kapow! posse are about to get stuck into another session: on 7th December 2008. Be there, it'll be blimmin marvellous!

Hiatus Over

So, I've updated the website to within an inch of its life and tried to update links to it wherever I can.

I'm going away for a while but, when I'm back, expect more and newer updates more frequently as I'll be spending not a little time off work...

I'm very pleased with the site. It's still quite plain and stark, but its code has been tidied drastically, away from the horrible extra code that MS likes to add in, and I'm pretty sure I'm never again going to use anything but Notepad to write a webpage ever again. Hah! In addition, there's a new page of Media Bits of me performing some of the poetry, along with an as-yet small, simple Photo Gallery.

I've tidied up the site so that different sections are, well, in different sections - subfolders a-go-go - and I think all the links work. Let me know if anything's broken!

At some point in the future I'll be moving some of the work over to a WordPress site so that y'all can leave comments/ feedback, etc. but, for now, I guess the easiest thing to do is email me or leave a comment here.

In other news: I'm still attending the Ripping Pages performance nights fairly regularly, which has been everso inspiring. And I'm in the middle of applying for a spot in a cabaret night (partial inspiration for tidying up the site) in London, so wish me luck! :)

Apologies to anyone who was expecting to see or hear from me. It's so dark inside my own head that I can't even take myself out into the sunshine; the pretty, fresh, blowy sunshine.

But there are stories in here, and they're making their way out to the light. Which is nice.
